You’re not alone in this.

If your teen freezes, shuts down, or loses confidence when it’s time to write, I want you to know — that’s far more common than most parents are told.

Many teens can think beautifully.
They can talk through ideas, explain stories, and express opinions clearly…

But the moment they try to write, everything gets tangled.

Not because they don’t care.
Not because they’re not trying.
And not because you’re doing anything wrong.

Writing asks the brain to do a lot at once — organise, recall, decide, plan, express, and structure — and for many teens, that kind of processing load gets heavy fast.

When it becomes too much, the brain shuts down to stay safe.
That’s why writing looks like “I don’t know,” or “This is too hard,” or silence.

There is nothing wrong with your teen.
They just need writing broken down into calm, doable steps.

Tomorrow, I’m going to send you the exact structure I use with students to help them go from overwhelmed → to organised → to confident.

It’s simple.
It’s gentle.
And it works for all kinds of thinkers.

If you’d like to see that step-by-step method, just keep an eye on your inbox — it will be there tomorrow.

And if you ever have questions or want to talk through your teen’s situation, my inbox is always open. You’re doing a wonderful job — even on the days that feel messy.
